Indian Girls team blank Maldives 3-0 on Day two of South Asia Regional Qualifying

The Indian Girls side comprising of Maaya Rajeshwari Revathi, Harithashree Venkatesh and Janhavi Kajla notched up their second consecutive victory in as many days at the South Asia Regional Qualifying event of the ITF Asia U12 Team Competition which is being held at the PTF SDA Tennis Complex in Islamabad, Pakistan.

It is the second tie of the Round Robin format for Indian Girls and they blanked their opponents Maldives 3-0 today.

Leading the Indian side in the first singles rubber, Haritashee Venkatesh produced yet another sublime result as she beat Sarah Samee Mohamed 6-1, 6-0.

Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi who previously lost her singles rubber in a three-set battle against Pakistan’s Haniya Aman yesterday, made up for the loss and sent Maldives’ Naba Nishan packing in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.

In the doubles rubber, Janhavi Kajla teamed up with Haritashee Venkatesh to prevail over Naba/Moosa 6-2, 6-1.

Tomorrow on day three of the competition, India’s Boys team will take on home side Pakistan and the Girls are scheduled to play Nepal.

The South Asia Regional Qualifying tournament is organized by Pakistan Tennis Federation and sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Asian Tennis Federation (ATF).

At the conclusion of the Qualifying tournament, two nations will earn their spot at the Finals of the 2021 ITF Asia 12 & Under Team Competition to be held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan during the week of 22nd November.
