Anirudh – Vijay claimed the doubles crown at the ATP challenger – PMR Open

The recently concluded ATP Challenger 100 – Pune Metropolitan Open (PMR Open) Men’s tennis tournament witnessed some breathtaking performances from some of the best players around the world. The tournament, organized by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) and played at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, was a grand success, with a lot of tennis enthusiasts enjoying the action.

In the doubles final, it was the Indian pair of Anirudh Chandrasekhar and N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth who emerged victorious, after defeating the Japanese duo of Toshihide Matsui and Kaito Uesugi in a tough encounter that ended in a tiebreaker. The Indian pair overpowered their opponents 6-1 4-6 (10-3) to clinch the doubles crown in front of an excited crowd. The duo showed tremendous grit and determination to win the title and make the home fans proud.

In the semi-final, Anirudh and Vijay had conquered the challenge of another Indian star and local boy Arjun Kadhe and his doubles partner from Austria, Maximilian Neuchrist. The Austrian retired hurt at 0-4, giving Anirudh and Vijay an easy passage to the finals.

In the singles final, it was the Australian lad Max Purcell who emerged victorious after outperforming Italy’s Luca Nardi in straight sets 6-2 6-3. This was Purcell’s third consecutive title in India, having previously won the ATP Chennai Challenger and ATP Bengaluru Challenger in the preceding weeks. The Australian had a dream run on Indian soil, and his performances were nothing short of exceptional. His consistency and temperament were on full display, and he proved to be a force to reckon with in the tennis world.

The tournament was a grand success, and the players showcased some incredible tennis throughout.
