Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden Clinch Doubles Title at Qatar ExxonMobil Open
Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden emerged victorious at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, an ATP 250 men’s professional tennis tournament held in Doha, Qatar. The pair beat Constant Lestienne and Botic Van De Zandschulp in a thrilling three-set final to claim the doubles title.
Bopanna and Ebden had a tough road to the final, facing a number of talented opponents throughout the tournament. In the semifinals, they faced the British duo of Daniel Evans and Jonny O’Mara, whom they defeated in straight sets to advance to the final.
This was Bopanna’s second title at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, having won the tournament previously in 2018 alongside Wesley Koolhof. The third set tiebreak saw Bopanna and Ebden take control early on, with their opponents struggling to keep up. The Indo-Aussie pair eventually secured the win with a 10-6 scoreline, much to the delight of the crowd in attendance.
With this win, Bopanna has re-entered the top 15 of the ATP doubles ranking for the first time since November 2017. It is a testament to the Indian veteran’s perseverance and dedication to the sport.
