It was a tour to remember for 22 years Manish Sureshkumar as he bagged two championships in back-to-back two ITF M-15 tournaments held in the capital city of Sri Lanka. In Sri-Lanka Futures 1, he clinched the singles title, beating the top seed Quentin Folliot of France in the final with absolute dominance and followed by the Doubles title in Sri Lanka Futures 2, in a partnership with his countrymate Parikshit Somani, when the Indian duo upsets the top seed duo Quentin Folliot (Fra) / Eric Vanshelboim (Ukr) in the tournament final.
‘’Sri Lanka is a second home for me, I have lots of friends and relatives based in Colombo. I have played lots of tournaments there. Even I won my first singles title (M-15) on that soil back in 2018 in the pro circuit. That’s why I had the advantage of knowing the conditions very well, and for me, it was all about expressing myself on the particular day when it needed most. Quite happy with the way I have played the tournaments. Now my focus is to play ATP Challenger as much as possible so that can compete with more top-ranked players. And this is so far the best ranking I got in my professional career. Extremely happy, and I will continue to work hard as much as possible to push onward…” an elated Manish narrated to us after reaching his hometown from Colombo.
A total of six titles Manish Sureshkumar won so far in the professional circuit – 3 of which came in singles and 3 in doubles. With the back-to-back glory, Manish overtakes some of the great names and claimed his position in the top five Indian men as per the ATP ranking.
