India Dominates Davis Cup Tie Against Pakistan, Secures World Group I Berth

India showcased its tennis prowess as they secured a commanding 4-0 victory against Pakistan in the Davis Cup tie held in Islamabad on 3rd and 4th February 2024. This marked India’s first visit to Pakistan in 60 years, and the Indian team left a resounding impact with a dominant performance on the court.
The tie began with India swiftly taking a 2-0 lead on day one, courtesy of impressive victories by Ramkumar Ramanathan and N Sriram Balaji against Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan respectively. The momentum continued on day two as the doubles pair of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni sealed the victory for India with a clinical display, defeating Khan and Muzammil Murtaza 6-2, 7-6(5).
Bhambri and Myneni exhibited exceptional teamwork, breaking Khan’s serve twice in the opening set and maintaining composure during a tense second set tie-breaker. Meanwhile, on his Davis Cup debut, Niki Poonacha showcased his talent by securing a straight-sets victory against Muhammad Shoaib, further solidifying India’s dominance in the tie.
