Tatjana Maria wins Singles, Ankita -Prarthana Lift doubles title at 22nd edition of NECC Deccan ITF $40000 Women’s Tennis Tournament

Top-seeded Tatjana Maria of Germany, and Indian pair Ankita Raina – Prarthana Thombare won the singles and doubles titles respectively at the 22nd edition of the NECC Deccan ITF $40000 Women’s Tennis Tournament organised under the auspices of the ITF, AITA and MSLTA by Deccan Gymkhana and sponsored by National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts, Pune

In the singles finals lasting 1 hour and 38 minutes, top-seeded, a Semifinalist at Wimbledon, WTA Comeback player of the year, Tatjana Maria outplayed Nigina Abduraimova of Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-1 in a one sided final.

Olympians and top-seeded duo, Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare came back from loss of the first set to get past fighting Kazakhstan pair of Gozal Ainitdinova and Zhibek Kulambayeva 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 (59 min) to win their second title together and the first of the year.
