Leander Paes in partnership with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico went down fighting against the top seeds Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic 6-4, 3-6, 5-10 in the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the ATP Tour event in Chengdu, China, on Monday.
The doubles draw in the $1,183,360 also features, Rohan Bopanna partnering Srira Balaji, while Divij Sharan and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan have their regular partners Artem Sitak of New Zealand and Austin Krajicek of the US.

Leander Paes in partnership with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico pipped top seeds Dominic Inglot and Franko Skugor in the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the $1,241,850 ATP Tour event in Russia.
The Indo-Mexican pair will play Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini of Italy in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan beat Maximilian Neuchrist of Austria 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the $150,000 Challenger.
However the other Davis Cupper, Prajnesh Gunneswaran was beaten in three sets in the first round by Jurij Rodionov of Austria.

Leander Paes in partnership with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico was beaten 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles final by second seeds Luke Bambridge and Neale Skupski of Britain in the doubles final of the $150,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Chicago, US, on Saturday.
The champion team collected 125 ATP points and $9,300 and the runners-up fetched 75 points and $5,400.
The top seeded Indo-Mexican pair had earlier recovered from the brink of defeat to to beat Ruben Gonzales and Nathaniel Lamons in 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 10-5 in the semifinals.
