DIVIJ SHARAN IN QUARTERFINALS OF NEWPORT ATP
Divij Sharan in partnership with Jackson Withrow of the US made the doubles quarterfinals of the $623,710 ATP tennis tournament in Newport, US, with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu of the US.
As expected, Divij has reached a career-best No.36 in world rankings in doubles, following his brilliant run to the quarterfinals in partnership with Artem Sitak of New Zealand in Wimbledon.
In the $125,000 Challenger in Kazakhstan, Arjun Kadhe had a big size of luck, as he not only entered as the lucky loser in the main draw, but also got a lucky loser as the first round opponent. Arjun led 6-2, 3-3 against Dzmitry Zhyrmont of Belarus when the latter retired.
In the ITF women’s event in Indonesia, Zeel Desai won both her singles and doubles matches.
It was persistent rain that washed out the day’s play in Nonthaburi, Thailand, where Ankita Raina was scheduled to play her first round.
