ISHAQUE EQBAL, BHUVANA KALVA TRIUMPH IN CHANDIGARH

Lucky loser and top seed Ishaque Eqbal outplayed Calvin Golmei 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the men’s title in the Rs.100,000 AITA ranking tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex on Friday.

It was a double crown for Ishaque, as he in partnership with Yash Yadav won the doubles title.

Bhuvana Kalva got off to a whirlwind start against qualifier Sharannya Gaware and glided to a 6-0, 6-4 victory in the women’s final.

Yubarani Banerjee and Shweta Rana asserted themselves as the top seeds in clinching the women’s doubles title.
