UDIT GOGOI, AMAN DAHIYA AND RENNE SINGLA MAKE ASIAN TEAM FOR EUROPEAN TENNIS CIRCUIT

Three Indian players, Udit Gogoi, Aman Dahiya and Renne Singla have been selected to be part of the eight-member Asian under-14 tennis team for the European circuit, under the Grand Slam Development Fund scheme.

All the three players had done very well in the fortnight-long Asian under-14 championship held recently in Thailand.
Udit Gogoi was the best among the three as he made two singles finals, and won the title in the first week.

In the European circuit, the players are scheduled to assemble for a training camp in Paris on July 5.

A three-day camp will be followed by the first tournament in Paris from July 9. Thereafter it will be the Windmill Cup in the Netherlands. The players will move to France again for the third tournament in Nantes. It will be followed by events in Germany and Belgium.

The eight Asian players will be accompanied by two coaches, Shukhrat Kayumov of Uzbekistan and Pairin Panjasilpa of Thailand.

Those players who have qualified for the World Group competition of the ITF under-14 team event will fly to the Czech Republic.

None of the four Indian teams in the under-14 and under-16 age groups could cross the Asia-Oceania zone this time.

However, Udit Gogoi and Renne Singla will go to Wimbledon from the European circuit, to compete in the UK under-14 championship, the climax of the Road to Wimbledon campaign.

They will be joined by Chirag Duhan and Sanjana Sirimalla in Wimbledon.
