BOPANNA IN DOUBLES QUARTERFINALS OF FRENCH OPEN
Rohan Bopanna in partnership with Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France beat the top seeds Lukasz Kubot of Austria and Marcelo Melo of Poland 6-4, 7-6(1) to make the doubles quarterfinals of the French Open in Paris on Saturday.
The 13th seeded Indo-French duo will next play the eighth seeds Nikola Mektic of Croatia and Alexander Peya of Austria who won two tie-breaks against Raven Klaasen of South Africa and Michael Venus of New Zealand.
Playing in his 11th successive French Open, the 38-year-old Bopanna will attempt to improve his record of two quarterfinals at the Roland Garros in 2011 and 2016.
Bopanna had won his maiden Grand Slam title, the mixed doubles crown with Gabriela Dabrowski of France, last year at the French Open.
