VM Sandeep beats sixth seed in ITF juniors
VM Sandeep knocked out sixth seed Leo Raquin of France 6-3, 7-5 in the boys first round of the ITF grade-2 junior tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex on Tuesday.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Sandeep will play Yamato Sueoka of Japan.
Udit Gogoi sailed past Sanjith Devineni of the US 6-3, 6-2 in setting up a second round against the champion of the last tournament in Chandigarh, the fifth seed Raphael Collignon. The Belgian lad blanked Akhilendran Indrabalan in the first round.
Resshma Maruri who trains with the Davis Cup team coach Zeeshan Ali in Bengaluru, put up a good fight against Anna Grigoreva of Russia, but was beaten 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
None of the Indian girls managed to progress to the second round of singles.
