Jia-Jing Lu triumphs in Gwalior

Top seed Jia-Jing Lu of China beat seventh seed Sofia Shapatava of Georgia 7-5, 6-2 to clinch the title in the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the City Centre Tennis Complex on Sunday.

It was the second singles title of the season, and 18th of her career, for the 30-year-old Chinese, ranked 183 in the world.

The champion collected 50 WTA points and $3,935, while the runner-up pocketed 30 points and $2,107.
