Rutuja Bhosale and Laura Pigossi win doubles title in Lagos
Sidharth Rawat battled past Zhao Zhao of China 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-1 to make the main draw of the $162,480 Challenger tennis tournament in Ningbo, China, on Monday.
In the main draw, Sidharth will play Yosuke Watanuki of Japan. Prajnesh Gunneswaran is the top seed in the tournament.
In the $25,000 ITF women’s tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, Rutuja Bhosale and Laura Pigossi beat Sandra Samir and Prarthana Thombare 10-7 in the super tie-break of the doubles final, which had to be played on Monday, owing to rain interruption during the event.
It was the second doubles title of the year, and 11th overall for Rutuja, who also has two singles to her credit in the professional circuit.
