Shashank Teertha gets past Anurag Nenwani
Shashank Teertha knocked out eighth seed Anurag Nenwani 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the Rs.250,000 AITA men’s ranking tennis tournament at the Harvest Tennis Academy in Jassowal on Monday.
In another first round match, qualifier and top seed Kunal Anand had to fight it out 7-6(8), 6-4 against Ominder Baisoya.
Former national champion Mohit Mayur had to endure a three-setter against Deepinder Singh Bains, while another former National champion Dalwinder Singh beat fellow trainee at the academy, Hardeep Singh Sandhu 6-4, 6-2.
The Sood twins, Chandril and Lakshit, also progressed into the pre-quarterfinals of singles.
