Ankita Raina, Ramkumar Ramanthan exit Wimbledon qualifying event

Former Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki scotched the hopes of Ankita Raina 6-1, 7-6(4) in the second qualifying round of Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Ankita, who had beaten Lisicki on grass in Surbiton missed her chances to make a better fight of it.

In the men’s section, Kamil Majchrzak of Poland beat 7-6(5), 6-3 in the second qualifying round.

Thus, Ramkumar’s aspirations of competing in the main draw of a Grand Slam continued to be elusive.

Women: Qualifying singles (second round): Sabine Lisicki (GER) bt Ankita Raina 6-1, 7-6(4).

Men: Qualifying singles (second round): Kamil Majchrzak (POL) bt Ramkumar Ramanathan 7-6(5), 6-3.
