Lakshmi Sahithi Reddy cruises past Prerna Bhambri

Qualifier Lakshmi Sahithi Reddy continued to assert her fire power as she beat four-time National champion Prerna Bhambri 6-2, 6-4 in the women’s quarterfinals of the Rs.200,000 AITA ranking tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex on Wednesday.

In the semifinals, Lakshmi Sahithi who had beaten top seed Yubrani Banerjee earlier, will face Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi.

The other semifinal will feature favourite Salsa Aher against Kashish Bhatia.

In the men’s section, the three National champions Mohit Mayur, Dalwinder Singh and VM Ranjeet made it to the semifinals without breaking into a sweat. Suraj Prabodh, who had recently beaten Dalwinder for the title back at the training base in Jassowal, also made it to the semifinals, with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Hardeep Singh Sandhu.

Women: Lakshmi Sahithi Reddy bt Prerna Bhambri 6-2, 6-4; Sravya Shivani bt Avika Sagwal 6-2, 6-4; Kashish Bhatia bt Renne Singhla 0-1 (retired); Salsa Aher bt Bhargavi Kalaga 6-1, 6-2.
