Salsa Aher sails past second seed Vanshika Chaudhary
Salsa Aher packed off second seed Vanshika Chaudhary with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the women’s first round of the Rs.200,000 AITA ranking tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex here on Monday.
Eighth Himaanshika Singh was outplayed 6-0, 6-1 by qualifier Bhargavi Kalaga in another match in the fourth quarter of the women’s event.
Fifth seed Renne Singla, trained by Vinod Kumar in the Capital, was in fine form as she outplayed qualifier Prinkle Singh for the loss of two games. Sarah Dev overcame a slow start to outwit Kaavya Sawhney in three sets.
In the men’s section, Hardeep Singh Sandhu beat the eighth seed Shashank Theertha 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. The rest of the seeds led by three national champions, Mohit Mayur, VM Ranjeet and Dalwinder Singh sailed into the second round.
