Ankita Raina sails into quarterfinals of $60K tennis in China
Second seed Ankita Raina sailed past Yue Yuan of China 6-2, 6-3 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $60,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Luan, China, on Thursday.
It was the second victory for Ankita over the Chinese, whom she had beaten in 2016 in a $50,000 event in Quanzhou with an identical margin.
In the quarterfinals, the 175th ranked Ankita will playEudice Chong of Hong Kong.
In the Challenger in Busan, Vishnu Vardhan in partnership with Toshihide Matsui of Japan beat fourth seeds Jonathan Erlich and Sriram Balaji 6-4, 7-5 in the doubles quarterfinals.
In the Challenger in Kazakhstan, Arjun Kadhe, seeded fourth with Denis Yevseyev of Kazakhstan, beat the strong team of Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan 10-7 in the super tie-break of the doubles quarterfinals.
