Shashank Theertha makes semifinals in ATT tennis in Mumbai

Shashank Theertha recovered from the brink of defeat to beat Tejas Chaukulkar 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the $3,000 RBL ATT tennis tournament in Mumbai on Friday.

In the semifinals, the big serving Shashank, who had competed in the UK under-14 championship in Wimbledon, will play Ishaque Eqbal who breezed past Paramveer Bajwa.

The other semifinal will be between Raghav Jaisinghani, who won a tough match against Lakshya Gupta, and Prithvi Sekhar.

The results (quarterfinals): Ishaque Eqbal bt Paramveer Singh Bajwa 6-3, 6-2; Shashank Theertha bt Tejas Chaukulkar 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-2; Prithvi Sekhar bt Gokul Suresh 6-3, 6-1; Raghav Jaisinghani bt Lakshya Gupta 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
