Indian boys beat Philippines in Junior Davis Cup

The Indian boys beat Philippines 3-0, conceding 13 games in all, in the play-off for the ninth to 16th places in the Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament in Bangkok on Thursday.

The sixth seeded India will next play the eighth seed China.

Syria knocked out host and fourth seed Thailand to make the semifinals in which it will play second seed Hong Kong. Japan and Australia made the other semifinal and ensured progress to the World Group competition.

The results (9th to 16th place play-off): India bt Philippines 3-0 (Sushant Dabas bt Axl Lajon Gonzaga 6-2, 6-0; Divesh Gahlot bt Angil Jay Balaoing 6-3, 6-2; Sushant Dabas & Ajay Malik bt Edgardo Manuel Angara & Axl Lajon Gonzaga 6-3, 6-3).
