Pari Singh wins her third match, Indian team tumbles to another defeat

Pari Singh continued to assert her strong game, and won her singles match 6-1, 6-1 against Youmna Fayssal, but the Indian team was beaten 2-1 by Lebanon in the last league match of the Asia Oceania World Junior under-14 girls tennis tournament in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Pari had earlier won against China and Australia as well. The Indian team finished fourth in the group.

India will play Thailand in the knock-out phase for the ninth to 16th places.

Japan New Zealand, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong,, Philiippines, Australia and Korea qualified for the quarterfinals.

The results (league): Lebanon bt India 2-1 (Maria Beirdy bt Shruti Ahlawat 6-4, 7-5; Youmna Fayssal lost to Pari Singh 1-6, 1-6; Maria Beirdy & Youmna Faysssal bt Shruti Ahlawat & Veda Raju Prapurna 6-3, 6-3).
