Mahak Jain in pre-quarterfinals of the $25,000 women’s event in Pune
National champion Mahak Jain beat lucky-loser Ksenia Palkina of Kyrgyzstan 6-3, 6-2 to set up a second round against top seed Jia-Jing Lu of China in the NECC $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the Deccan Gymkhana, in Pune, on Tuesday.
Mahak was originally scheduled to play qualifier Paula Cristina Goncalves of Brazil, who reported sick.
Bhuvana Kalva ran into the champion of last week in Solapur, Marina Melnikova of Russia and managed to win four games.
