Look for future champions in Asian junior tennis

It will be another chance for the likes of defending champion Siddhant Banthia, national junior champions Megh Bhargav Patel, Sacchitt Sharma and the player with considerable potential Mann Shah to try and win the title in the HCL Asian junior tennis championship being played this week in Pune.

Even as he tries to break ground in the men’s circuit, Siddhant Banthia has been getting the matches in the junior circuit and had won the national title in the Fenesta championship in Delhi recently.

With Grand Slam experience behind him, Siddhant is trying to grasp every lesson he could from the junior circuit.
The challenge for the Indian boys will be mainly from the top three seets, Dostanbek Tashbulatov of Kazakhstan, Sergey Fomin of Uzbekistan and Han Seon Yong of Korea.

In the girls section, none of the Indian girls is seeded, despite the presence of the best ranked Indian junior Shivani Amineni (155).

Three of the best Indian girls Vaidehi Chaudhari, Akanksha Bhan and Tanisha Kashyap are not competing in the event, for a variety of reasons, leaving it to players like Salsa Aher, Kaavya Sawhney, Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty, Vipasha Mehra, Muskan Gupta, Smriti Bhasin, Malikaa Marathe and Sharannya Gaware to prove the tenacity of the Indian players.

Of course, the likes of Gargi Pawar, Prerna Vichare and Bhakti Parwani are capable of asserting their game, if they play with conviction.

Overall, it should be an interesting week of action, that can provide a lot of clue to the future of Indian tennis.
