Purav raja in doubles final in italian challenger
Purav Raja in partnership with Rameez Junaid of Australia made the doubles final with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Pedro Cachin and Marco Trungelliti of Argentina in the Challenger tennis tournament in Italy on Friday.
In the ITF women’s event in China, Sowjanya Bavisetti got beaten in the singles semifinals but won the doubles title in partnership with Wang Dan Ni of China.
It was the eighth career doubles title for the 24-year-old Sowjanya who has won three singles titles as well in the professional circuit.
In Tunisia, Bhuvana Kalva had to retire in the second set of the quarterfinals against the top seed, owing to a painful foot injury. She gave a walkover in the doubles.
