Ajay malik wins under-18 and 16 titles

Ajay Malik won a double crown as he clinched the boys under-18 and 16 titles in the AITA Super series junior tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex on Friday.

Ajay outplayed Naresh Badgujar for the loss of one game for the under-18 title. He had to sweat a lot more in beating Aditya Balsekar in the under-16 final.

In the under-18 doubles final, Ajay in partnership with Karan Singh, got beaten 10-7 in the super tie-break by Sushant Dabas and Krishan Hooda.

Kaavya Sawhney won the girls under-18 title at the expense of Vanshika Choudhary, who clinched the under-16 title. Kaavya won the doubles title as well in partnership with Shreya Chakraborty.

Boys: Under-18: Ajay Malik bt Naresh Badgujar 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles: Sushant Dabas & Krishan Hooda bt Ajay Malik & Karan Singh 7-5, 6-7(2), [10-7].

Under-16: Ajay Malik bt Aditya Balsekar 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles: Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje & Jitin Kumar Chetry bt Ajay Singh & Sarabjot Singh 6-4, 6-4.

Girls: Under-18: Kaavya Sawhney bt Vanshika Choudhary 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles: Shreya Chakraborty & Kaavya Sawhney bt Sanvi Ahluwalia & Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa 6-2, 6-2.

Under-16: Vanshika Choudhary bt Mekhala Manna 7-6(6), 3-0 (retired).
