Yuvan Nandal in Asian under-14 final
Yuvan Nandal continued to assert his strong all-round game as he breezed past Ayushmaan Arjeria 6-1, 6-4 in the boys semifinals of the Asian under-14 grade-A junior tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Thursday.
Except for a tricky second round against the country’s No.1 in the age group Arunava Majumder, whom he beat in three tough sets after losing the first, it has been a smooth sail for the strongly built Yuvan.
In the final, Yuvan will play sixth seed Agriya Yadav who eased past Vitin Rathee for the loss of four games.
In the girls section, Pari Singh faced better challenge from her doubles partner, Shruti Ahlawat, especially in the second set, after having dropped only five games in all in the first three rounds.
Second seed Pari prevailed 6-0, 6-4 against Shruti.
In the final, Pari will play Nandini Dixit who has been pretty strong throughout the event, except for wavering a bit to a three setter in the second round against the top seed from Lebanon, Maria Breidy.
Nandini was equally authoritative in her 6-1, 6-3 victory over Riya Sachdeva.
The results:
Boys (semifinals): Yuvan Nandal bt Ayushmaan Arjeria 6-1, 6-4; Agriya Yadav bt Vitin Rathee 6-3, 6-1.
Girls (semifinals): Nandini Dixit bt Riya Sachdeva 6-1, 6-3; Pari Singh bt Shruti Ahlawat 6-0, 6-4.
