Vaishnavi Adkar beats top seed Smriti Bhasini in ITF juniors

Vaishnavi Adkar stretched her impressive run with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over top seed Smriti Bhasin in the girls quarterfinals of the ITF grade-5 junior tennis tournament at the Shanti Academy, Dehradun, on Thursday.

Vaishnavi will play fifth seed Sanjana Sirimalla who stopped third seed Jagmeet Kaur Grewal in straight sets. The other semifnal will be between Prerna Vichare and Renne Singla.

In the boys section, Chirag Duhan ousted Udit Gogoi 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Chirag will challegne Nikhil Niranjan of the US. The other semifinal will feature top seed Denim Yadav against Muhammed Khan Erel of Egypt.

Boys (quarterfinals): Denim Yadav bt Deepender Grewal 7-6(2), 7-5; Muhammed Kaan Erel (TUR) bt Ajay Malik 7-5, 6-3; Nikhil NIranjan (USA) bt Sarthak Suden 4-6, 6-0, 6-3; Chirag Duhan bt Udit Gogoi 7-5, 1-6, 6-4.

Doubles (semifinals): Sushant Dabas & Denim Yadav bt Arjun Sriram (USA) & Sarthak Suden 6-2, 6-3; Yash Chaurasia & Ajay Malik bt Udit Gogoi & Aditya Vishal Balsekar 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Girls (quarterfinals): Vaishnavi Adkar bt Smriti Bhasin 6-4, 6-4; Sanjana Sirimalla bt Jagmeet Kaur Grewal 6-3, 6-4; Prerna Vichare bt Gargi Pawar 6-0, 6-2; Renne Singla bt Juliette Bovy (BEL) 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles (semifinals): Jagmeet Kaur Grewal & Gargi Pawar bt Riya Uboveja & Prerna Vichare 6-4, 3-6, 10-8; Qinglin Zang & Yimei Zhao (CHN) bt Vaishnavi Adkar & Renne Singla 7-5, 6-4.
