Sumit nagal in second round of italian challenger
Qualifier Sumit Nagal beat Stefano Napolitano of Italy 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the €127,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Italy.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Sumit will play Christian Garin of Chle who ousted the seventh seed, Thiiago Monteiro in straight sets.
Davis Cupper Saketh Myneni was scheduled to compete in the Challenger in China, but his name in the singles draw was replaced by a lucky-loser.
Understandably, Saketh's responsibilities have increased in the Davis Cup team for the World Group play-off tie against Serbia, following the withdrawal of Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan owing to injury.
Karunuday Singh made the singles quarterfinals of the iTF men’s Futures in Thalland, but was beaten in the doubles quarterfinals, in partnership with Yuichi Ito of Japan.
In the ITF women’s event in Thailand, Prerna Bhambri prevailed over Riya Bhatia in the battle of the national champions in the pre-quarterfinals.
