SAKETH MYNENI IN SINGLES QUARTERFINALS AND DOUBLES SEMIFINALS IN FERGANA
Qualifier Saketh Myneni continued to assert his class as he outplayed seventh seed Roberto Subervi of Dominican Republic 6-0, 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
Saketlh went on to make the doubles semifinals with Vijay Sundar Prashanth.
In the ATP event at the Queen’s Club, Rohan Bopanna in partnership with Edouard Roger-Vasselin was beaten 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-7 by the top seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in the doubles quarterfinals.
Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan made the doubles semifinals in the Challenger in Ilkley, and so did Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan with Austin Krajicek. Third seeded Purav Raja and John-Patrick Smith were beaten in the quarterfinals by wild card entrants Liam Broady and Scott Clayton of Britain.
The quarterfinal entry was worth 90 ATP points and € 16,230 for the Indo-French pair.
Prarthana Thomabre, who had won her maiden title at the $100,000 level last week, made the doubles quarterfinals of the $100,000 evnet in Ilkley in partnership with Rika Fujiwara of Japan. The Indo-Japanese pair won 10-7 in the suepr tie-break against Desirae Krawczyk and Ingrid Neel of the US.
In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in Hong Kong, Karman Kaur Thandi stormed into the semifinals, dropping three games to Mai Hontama of Japan. However, Karman was beaten in the doubles semifinals, in partnership with Tessah Andrianjafitrimo of France. Pranjala Yadlapalli made the doubles final in partnership with Victoria Muntean of France.
