Rutuja Bhosale in quarterfinals of $25,000 Solapur Open
Rutuja Bhosale recovered from being two points away from losing the match to beat qualifier Miyabi Inoue of Japan 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-1 in the Oasis $25,000 Solapur Open tennis tournament on Wednesday.
After a rough start when she was down 0-4, Rutuja bounced back in the second set to lead 5-2. However, she lost the next four games to find Miyabi serving for the match. Rutuja clawed her way back to force the decider.
Miyabi won the first game in the third set after saving three breakpoints, and Rutuja took over thereafter to win the next six games.
In the quarterfinals, Rutuja will play top seed and champion last week Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia. Rutuja also made the doubles quarterfinals in partnership with Kai Lin Zhang of China.
Second seed Ankita Raina was beaten in three sets by Marina Melnikova of Russia.
