Reshma maruri stuns seed Sanya singh in national tennis
Reshma Maruri of Karnataka beat second seed Sanya Singh 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the under-16 girls second round of the Fenesta National sub-junior tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here on Tuesday.
Top seed Bhakti Parwani sailed past Ishika Chakma 6-1, 6-3. She will be challenged by Adithi Are who beat Prapurna Veda Raju 7-6(6), 7-6(0).
Amreek Kiran Batth knocked out fifth seed Sudipa Senthil Kumar 7-5, 6-3. Rutuja Chaphalkar recovered from a slow start to outplay Simran Pritam 2-6, 6-0, 6-0. Hrudaya Shah had a tough outing, as she beat Poorvi Bhat 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
In the under-16 boys event, top seed Divesh Gehlot made the pre-quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Arjun Kundu. Second seed Sushant Dabas cruised into the pre-quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ayushman Arjeria.
Even in the under-14 boys event, fifth seed Ayushman Arjeria was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by Daksh Agrawal.
The top four seeds, Udit Gogoi, Aman Dahiya, Chirag Duhan and Aayush Bhat made the third round easily. Deep Munim beat Samar Sidhu 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 while Nithlan Eric got past Ananth Manmuni 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-1.
In the girls under-14 section, No.1 seed Vaishnavi Adkar was stretched, but prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 against Chandni Parikh. Anjali Rathi fought her way past Sweta Samanta 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(1).
Renne Singla served a warning to the rest with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mekhala Manna.
The other seeded players Renee Singh, Pari Singh, Radhika Mahajan and Yana Dhamija also moved into the third round.
