Reshma Maruri in quarterfinals of ITF juniors
Reshma Maruri beat compatriot Sarah Dev 4-1, 4-0 to make the girls quarterfinals of the ITF grade-3 junior tennis tournament at the CLTA Complex on Thursday.
With three days having been washed out by rain, referee Leena Nageshkar had to reduce the format to short sets. Reshma, who emerged the only Indian player to make the singles quarterfinals, will play eighth seed Jiaqi Huang of China.
In the girls pre-quarterfinals, Juliette Bovy of Belgium knocked out top seed Yu Yun Li of Chinese Taipei 4-1, 4-2. The second seed Alessandra Ssimone of Italy was beaten 0-4,4 2, 41 by Sabrina Kalandarov of Israel.
