Ramkumar loses singles in Surbiton, beats Jeevan and Purav in doubles

Ramkumar Ramanathan had a mixed in the €137,560 Challenger on grass in Surbiton, Britain, as he lost the singles in three sets to Matthias Bachinger of Germany, but won the doubles pre-quarterfinals in partnership with Soonwoo Kwon of Korea in straight sets against compatriots Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja.

In the $100,000 ITF women’s event in Surbiton, Ankita Raina who had beaten Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki of Germany to qualify into the main event, was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by wild card Katy Dunne of Britain in the first round.

In the $60,000 ITF women’s event in Italy, Prarthana Thombare, seeded No.1 in partnership with Elixane Lechemia of France was beaten 6-4, 7-6(4) in the doubles pre-quarterfnals by the Italian pair of Jessica Pieri and Lucrezia Stefanini.

The champion of the last tournament in Thailand, Sidharth Rawat bowed out in the first round of the $25,000 ITF men's event in Hong kong.
