Pari Singh knocks out third seed in Asian under-14 tennis
Pari Singh started strong by beating the third seed Vichitraporn Vimuktananda of Thailand 6-4, 6-3 in the girls first round of the Asian under-14 Development tennis championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Monday.
Pari also made the doubles quarterfinals in partnership with Suhitha Maruri.
Another Indian girl, Chahana Budhbhatti, however, was beaten 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3 by Dilnaz Mashabayeva of Kazakhstan.
In the boys event, Agriya Yadav sailed into the second round for the loss of two games. He also made the doubles quarterfinals with Ayushmaan Arjeria.

Doubles (pre-quarterfinals): Ayushmaan Arjeria & Agriya Yadav bt Naruebodee Boonyawat & Tinnapat Tientawach (THA) 6-2, 6-3.
Girls (first round): Dilnaz Mashabayeva (KAZ) bt Chahana Budhbhatti 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3; Pari Singh bt Vichitraporn Vimuktananda (THA) 6-4, 6-3.
Doubles (pre-quarterfinals): Suhitha Maruri & Pari Singh bt Ngai Fan Cheung & Tsz Lam Yeung (HKG) 6-3, 6-1.
