KARMAN LOSES TO YUXUAN ZHANG IN SEMIFINALS

Karman Kaur Thandi’s fine run of winning eight singles matches without dropping a set was brought to a halt as she was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Yuxuan Zhang of China in the semifinals of the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in China on Saturday.

The third seeded Karman bowed to the second seed this time, after having beaten her in three sets in their only previous meeting in Luan, China, in May.

The 20-year-old Karman, ranked a career-best 225, had won the last tournament in Hong Kong for her maiden singles title in the professional circuit.
