Indian girls lose to New Zealand in Junior Fed Cup tennis
The Indian girls were beaten 3-0 by New Zealand, which did not drop a set, in the last league match in group-A in the Asia Oceania Junior Fed Cup tennis tournament in Bangkok on Wednesday.
India had already lost the race for the quarterfinals, followings its defeat at the hands of the two seeded teams in the group, Japan and Australia.
In the draw for the minor placings, India will play fourth seed Indonesia, which was the only seeded team not to make the quarterfinals. Hong Kong was the only unseeded team to make the quarterfinals.
Australia, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Hong Kong , Kazakhstan, China, Japan and Thailand made the quarterfinals.
The results (league): New Zealand bt India 3-0 (Ana Tamanika bt Sanjana Sirimalla 6-1, 6-4; Jade Otway bt Bhakti Shah 6-3, 6-2; Abigail Mason & Jade Otway bt Sudipta Senthilkumar & Sanjana Sirimalla 6-3, 6-4).
