Indian boys lose race for quarterfinals in Junior Davis Cup
Third seed Australia outplayed sixth seed India before conceding doubles in the last league match of the Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Ajay Malik and Sushant Dabas managed to win nine games between them in the first two singles, before the Australian pair retired in the doubles after five games, in recording a 2-1 victory.
The Indian team had managed to beat Indonesia, but had lost to New Zealand earlier which spoilt its chances of qualification for the quarterfinals.
Japan, Chinese Taipei, Australia, Korea, Syria, Thailand, New Zealand and Hong Kong qualified for the quarterfinals.
India will play Philippines in the first match for the ninth to 16th places.
