Fed Cup Asia Oceania Group I Teams nominate players
Ankita Raina and Sania Mirza to lead Indian challenge
The participating six Nations – China P.R., Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Korea Republic and Uzbekistan – at the Fed Cup Asia Oceania Group I tournament have nominated their players for the round-robin event which is scheduled to take place in Dubai from 3 rd to 7 th March.
27-year-old Ankita Raina ranked 176 th on WTA rankings will be the highest ranked Indian player in the tournament while India’s most successful female tennis player, Sania Mirza, returns to Fed Cup where she last played in 2016 and was out of action since October 2017 on maternity leave.
Joining them in India’s quest to qualify for Fed Cup Play-Offs in April are Riya Bhatia (Age: 22, WTA Rank: 349), Rutuja Bhosale (Age: 23, WTA Rank: 458) and Karman Kaur Thandi (Age: 21, WTA Rank: 587). Former Davis Cupper Vishal Uppal will be the Team Captain and Ankita Bhambri, a former Fed Cup player herself, will be the Coach of the Indian side during the competition.
