Denim Yadav in semifinals of ITF juniors

Denim Yadav bounced back from the brink of defeat to beat Ishan Sethi 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the boys quarterfinals of the ITF grade-5 junior tennis tournament in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Aryaan Bhatia and top seed Krish Patel were the other Indians to make the semifinals. Krish had endured a tough outiing in the earlier round against qualifier Iqbal Mohd. Khan when he prevailed 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-3.

In the girls section, second seed Sharannya Gaware was the only Indian to make the semiffinals, as she fought her way past Sarah Dev after losing the first set.

Boys: Krish Patel bt Uddayvir Singh 6-2, 6-1; Sanjith Devineni (US) bt Deepender Grewal 7-6(6), 6-3; Denim Yadav bt Ishan Sethi 3-6, 7-5, 6-3; Aryaan Bhatia bt Dhruv Tangri 6-4, 6-2.

Girls: Lanlana Tararudee (Tha) bt Kaavya Sawhney 6-4, 7-5; Aanya Goel (US) bt Bhakti Parwani 6-2, 6-0; Evelina Kontareva (Rus) bt Sandeepti Singh Rao 6-2, 6-4; Sharannya Gaware bt Sarah Dev 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
