Ankita Raina in second round of Dubai $100K tennis

Ankita Raina fought her way past Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia 7-6(3), 6-3 in the first round of the $100,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in UAE on Monday.

In a shaky first set, Ankita failed to serve out the set in the tenth game, but controlled the tie-break remarkably well after being down 1-3 to reel off six points in a row.

In the second set, Ankita won the last three games, from being 3-3, by dropping a solitary point. Ankita converted three of six breakpoints, while Tereza broke serve twice.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Ankita will play the winner of the match between Valentina Ivakhnenko of Russia and sixth seed Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland.
